Corner cellar doors (or “One-legged” doors) are used on homes where one side of the cellar stairwell is also the side of the house and therefore there is no foundation upon which to mount the frame. This adds security and protection from water, debris, and pests.
Steelway Cellar Doors has been making custom steel cellar doors and pre-fabricated steel cellar entrances since 1963. By remaining focused on the cellar entrance business, Steelway has become the authority on custom doors and leads the industry by providing the best fitting doors for each and every job.
Use the following illustration as a guide to assist you while you take the required measurements listed below.
Please measure the actual foundation since any old doors will be removed and the new door will mount directly to the foundation and house wall. In addition, it is important to measure in a variety of places in the even that the foundation has cracked and/or shifted.
(You may want to print this page and use it on the jobsite) These doors can be built either way… “right legged” or “left legged”. The side of the new door that will be metal determines its name. (A “left legged” door is shown in the drawing)
